Data Analysis Techniques and Model Selection in Personality Trait Analyis The program is taught.
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
The underlying theory of the questionnaire is to reduce personality traits to basic dimensions, where two theories have been widely accepted: Cattell reduced personality to 16 dimensions with 16PF, while Saville reduced personality to 5 dimensions, known as the “Big Five”. It is meaningful to explore more about the personal trait.
1. To introduce some statistical methods, including factor analysis and Multi-dimensional scaling, linear discriminant analysis, depending on the student’s needs and interests.
2. To encourage students get access to some mathematical knowledge and understand how statistical models could solve the real-world problems, so that the student could broaden the views about the mathematics and statistics;
3. To provide a sound foundation for future studies in mathematics and statistics;
4. To understand the scientific English language and to be able to comprehend statistical problems in a professional way.
You should be interested in Mathematics and eager to learn about the statistical models, understanding advanced Mathematics(Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Mathematical Statistics) is preferred, and you should be comfortable programming in at least one programming language.
